Giving back to the community that supports them.

Founded in 1976, Bishop’s Homemade is preparing for its 35th anniversary with a bright new sign and fresh new colors at their Cottage Street  Ice Cream Parlor, affirming the bond to the local community.  Bishop’s is not only a landmark among New England’s ice cream parlors, but long-time proprietors Jim & Barbara Quinn have cultivated a tradition of rewarding deserving young people.  “We have always hired kids from the local high schools,” they explain.  “Every spring, we employ four or five teenagers from the age of fifteen to eighteen.  We  like to think that the students learn alot from their experience.  It is gratifying to see a young person gain self confidence and satisfaction from a job well done”.  They love a challenge.

The Quinns affirm this work ethic with a scholarship program-awarding a college scholarship to a graduating employee.

Bishop’s also sponsors a girls junior softball  team.  The team shirts and pictures are proudly displayed in the shop for all  to see.

It’s  our 35th Anniversary…why not make it fun?
